How to wash a synthetic wig? What grooming products to use.

Hot styling fibre wigs are the perfect solution for people who value the ability to model their hairstyle to their liking. To ensure that they last a long time and look great, care and proper use must be observed.

1. Wig washing

To keep the wig in perfect condition, it is recommended to wash it regularly:

1. Cleaning frequency
The wig should be washed every 10-14 days of wear, or more often if exposed to:
- sweat,
- cigarette smoke,
- intense odours,
- environmental pollutants.

2. Cleaning step by step
- If the wig is not wavy or curly, the hair can be gently combed with a wide-toothed comb before washing, starting at the ends.
- In the case of wavy or curly wigs, only finger detangling is recommended so as not to disturb the structure of the hairstyle.

Washing instructions:
1 Fill the bowl with lukewarm water (approx. 3-5 litres, up to 25°C).
2. Add a small amount of Gisela Mayer shampoo.
3. Dip the wig and leave for 5 minutes.
4. knead lightly -No rubbing, no twisting of fibres.
5. Rinse the wig under lukewarm running water.

3. nutrition and rinsing
1. Dissolve Gisela Mayer hair softening lotion in fresh water.
2. Immerse the wig for 5-10 minutes.
3. Don't flush!
4. Gently drain the water in a towel, do not twist or squeeze the hair.

4. drying and combing
- Place the wig on a stand and allow to dry naturally.
- Do not use a hairdryer.

- You can spray the slightly damp wig with Gisela Mayer's spray conditioner.
- Once completely dry, comb the hair gently, always starting from the ends (if the model allows it).

5. styling
- If the wig is heat resistant, it can be styled hot (up to 130-140°C) with Gisela Mayer Heat Protection Spray.
- If the wig is not heat resistant, do not use any heating devices - this can permanently damage the fibre.

👉 Best styled with protective spray when the wig is slightly damp. (When dry, be sure to apply Gisela Mayer's Heat Protection styling spray.

REMEMBER
Using the wrong cosmetics can lead to the rapid destruction of synthetic fibres, loss of softness, matting and permanent deformation of the hairstyle.
If you do not use cosmetics designed for synthetic wigs, you do so at your own risk.

Combing and styling

💡 Straight hair - brush or style with fingers.
💡 Curly hair - place with fingers only, do not comb!
💡 Never comb wet hair - This can damage the structure of the wig.
💡 It is recommended to comb wigs with straight hair a minimum of twice a day (from the tips gradually moving upwards).

Safety and durability of the wig

⚠ Do not use high heat - avoid sauna, solarium, campfire, barbecue, oven.
⚠ Use only wig polish to fix the hairstyle.
⚠ Store the wig on a special stand or headpieceto avoid deformation.

Recommended cosmetics for wig care

To keep the wig in top condition, the manufacturer recommends using dedicated cosmetics:

Refreshment/regeneration of synthetic heat-resistant hair fibre

(wigs and toppers)

During daily use of wigs and toppers, especially long or mid-length hair models, a slight fuzzing or felting of the ends can occur over time.

This is a natural process, resulting from the friction of the fibres against the shoulders, neck and clothing elements.

That is why it is a good idea to carry out a quick refresh and regeneration of the synthetic fibre from time to time - either preventively or when necessary.

This treatment helps to smooth the ends and restore their aesthetic appearance.

FOR THIS PROCEDURE YOU NEED:

- straightener

- Heat Protection Spray by Gisela Mayer (available under Care Cosmetics)

HOW TO DO SYNTHETIC HAIR REFRESHMENT - STEP BY STEP:

1. Divide the wig or the ends themselves (as required) into small strands.

2. Gently spray each strand with Gisela Mayer Heat Protection Spray.

3. Comb through the strand with a fine-toothed comb to distribute the product evenly.

4. Pull the strand with a straightening iron set at 140°C for Gisela Mayer wigs. (The maximum permissible temperature is always stated next to the product description in the shop. Check the manufacturer's recommendations for your wig and adjust the temperature of the device)

Repeat strand by strand until all the areas that need to be refreshed are smooth.

If more product remains on the fibres after treatment, the wig can be further washed and allowed to dry naturally.

If only the ends of the hair themselves were regenerated, there is no need to wash the wig immediately.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Regeneration of synthetic fibre with Gisela Mayer Heat Protection Spray can only be performed in heat-resistant wigs and toppers, i.e. those that are designed for hot styling.

In the case of heat-resistant wavy or curly wigs, it is important to remember that pulling the fibre with a straightening iron straightens it.

After washing, the hair will remain straight and - if you want to keep the original twist - it needs to be styled again.

Regular, properly performed fibre refreshing can significantly prolong the aesthetic appearance of the wig, improve the smoothness of the ends and the comfort of the wig.

After a properly performed regeneration, the hair fibre looks like new - smooth, soft and aesthetically pleasing.
